In 2012 the St.
Paul Curling Club will celebrate its 100 Anniversary during many
of those years, among the most popular club Events were the
Mahler, Kuesel and Dunlop events. The Mahler was for Leads and
Seconds. The Kuesel was for the Thirds and the Dunlop was the
warm up for the St. Paul Teams entering the International
Bonspiel. During the Mahler and Kuesel Events there were several
spectators most of whom were the skips of the Leads, Seconds and
Thirds. It’s suffice to say that there was a lot of wagering
between the skips predicting the outcome of the games on the
ice.
This year we
will have a Mahler Event for any combination of Leads and
Seconds. The teams that enter the Kuesel will have to be skipped
by a Third and the other three players can be any combination of
Lead, Second, Third or Registered Skip (who must play lead and
cannot approach the house). With the number of members we have
and the need for new and upcoming skips, this is an excellent
opportunity for an inspiring skip to test the waters.
The Mahler and
Kuesel will run concurrently, ideally with 16 Teams in each
Event on the week end of FEBRUARY 20 -21, 2010. As is the
custom at the St. Paul Curling Club, Hospitality will be a part
of the Bonspiel. We would encourage all members to get together
and form a Team and make this a fun weekend. The Entry fee is
$120.00 per team. |
